If I add want to add 1 quart of NBS 30 to 5 gallons of WOODguard exterior stain (clear) do I still need to pre-mix the NBS 30 with mineral spirits (4 to 1) as described on in the mixing instructions that came with my packing slip or can I put the quart of NBS 30 directly into the 5 gallons of WOODguard?
Can I mix bee gone and the NBS30 together (without the stain) and use periodically on the exterior of my woodgard stained log home ?

Both products can be used with or without the stain. Neither manufacturer specifically addresses whether they can be used together, however we have many customers that use them both together.
Can you use this product as a preventative? I have stained log homes for the past 17 years and my customers tell me the wood boring bees return year after year. Is there any treatment that can be applied to the exterior surfaces of a log home to deter the critters? Thank you in advance! Mike
Hi Mike, yes you can definitely use NBS 30 as a preventative! We’d recommend applying it even before carpenter bees appear as it’s designed to repel the bees using citronella and other natural oils. Some customers who have a lot of trouble with carpenter bees also use Bee Gone along with NBS 30. Bee Gone is a pyrethroid-based insecticide that’s designed to kill the bees if they do start boring into the wood anywhere.
